"Today's release of the Democrats' schools policy and The Greens' education policy provide great encouragement for supporters of public education," said Mr Denis Fitzgerald, Federal President of the Australian Education Union.
"Both the Democrats and The Greens have strong recent records in backing the interests of public education. Both parties established a position of opposition to the Coalition government's iniquitous schools funding policies."
"Today's well-developed policy positions provide both of the parties with a clear mandate for pursuing their support for public education in the Senate after the election and establish benchmarks for other parties to work towards in government."
"The Democrats have built on previous support for public education and have identified the critical importance of supporting a high status teaching profession and the need to redistribute funding towards public education."
"The Greens, with a record of fine legislative support in NSW for public education, have provided a model for a meaningful resource base for public education in schools and have also recognised the critically important role of TAFE in our community."
"Teachers, parents and supporters of public education are likely to very seriously consider the policy merits of the Democrats and The Greens when casting their vote for the Senate."
