Introduction to the AEU's Industrial Work

The AEU represents the industrial interests of its members through:

  • negotiation and advocacy in state and federal industrial tribunals;
  • protection of rights through awards and agreements;
  • campaigns to improve working conditions and entitlements;
  • campaigns for safe and harassment-free workplaces;
  • support, advice and representation for individual members;
  • lobbying and campaigning - against draconian industrial legislation and for better legal protections for workers' rights;
  • building solidarity between all education industry workers.
Protecting and advancing the working conditions and industrial rights of AEU members can only be achieved through an integrated approach that recognises the close relationship between the industrial interests of education workers, the professional interests of education workers and adequate resourcing of public education.
