“ We live in a world of heightened anxiety and potential division and the better world of tomorrow can be crafted in the classrooms of today. World Teachers Day gives us all – parents, politicians and members of the public – an opportunity to reflect on the vital role teachers have played and will play in our lives.”
“ The nation of the future is made in the hearts and minds of our young. What H.G. Wells said near the beginning of the last century perhaps remains true: 'Human history becomes more a race between education and catastrophe'.”
“Teachers seek to draw together students of all backgrounds and educate them all in the values of tolerance, communication and respect for differences. In this environment, the deep quest for peace in our world and in our lives commences.”
“ Teaching is now the largest profession in Australia. Some even suggest that it is now the most important. Given the challenges facing our world and the needs of our young it is certainly of the utmost significance.”
“ On Friday, Australia joins with the rest of the world and the 24 million members of Education International in celebrating World Teachers Day. It might be an appropriate time to silently or openly thank a teacher.”
