National Trade Cadetships

The AEU believes the establishment of trade cadetships is a worthwhile initiative.

AEU Federal President Angelo Gavrielatos said it would provide more structure and focus to Vocational Education and Training  (VET) programs in schools.

“This will help ensure those students undertaking vocational education and training in schools have a clearer pathway into further training and the world of work” he said.

“It will also help keep students better engaged in their education and help lift Year 12 retention rates.”

Mr Gavrielatos said the Coalition has announced a cut of $3.1 billion from education and training which includes abolishing the Trade Training in Schools program.
