Again, it should be emphasised that this is not enrolment driven. In unadjusted terms, total federal government expenditure on public school students is estimated to increase from 1996 to 2003 by $186 per student (28%), whilst private school per student expenditure will increase by $1207 or 48%.

This year’s budget gave increases in unadjusted terms of 29% to private schools and 12% to public schools.
