A function was held at Parliament House in Canberra on 7 October 2003 to introduce the AEU Federal President, Pat Byrne, and launch the AEU's new Parliamentary Brief "Hands Up". Around seventy guests attended which included members of the federal government, federal opposition, minor parties, independents, representatives from the Commonwealth Department of Education and Science, and education writers from the Press Gallery.
