White Ribbon Day

The Australian Education Union condemns violence against women in all its forms and encourages educators to support and mark White Ribbon Day (the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) on 25th November.

The White Ribbon campaign aims to eliminate violence against women by promoting culture-change around the issue via strategies such as a national media campaign as well as education & male leadership programmes aimed at men and boys around Australia.

All Australian men are encouraged to take the White Ribbon campaign oath, which commits men to stand up against violence toward women.

Educators can join in the White Ribbon mission to make Australia a safer place for women and children by:
- Supporting White Ribbon Day by wearing a ribbon or wristband.
- Making a donation to help further our work with men and boys in schools and communities.
- Organising a fundraising or public awareness event - Spread the word!

More information concerning the campaign and education resources (particularly for schools) can be found at the White Ribbon Day web site.

TOGETHER WE WILL MAKE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN A THING OF THE PAST.
