World Teachers' Day

The Australian Education Union said today World Teachers' Day was a great opportunity to acknowledge the efforts and achievements of teachers. “Teachers work tirelessly every day to deliver the education that their students need,” AEU Federal President Angelo Gavrielatos said. “The passion and enthusiasm of Australian teachers from pre-schools to university is something that we should celebrate on this day. “The AEU is proud of the efforts members make in providing high quality education to all students, in every community.” Mr Gavrielatos encouraged members across the country to support the Public Schools For Our Future campaign and in particular the National Day of Action planned for November 15. “We have the opportunity through the schools funding review to make our voices heard about the importance of investing more in public education and the very real difference it would make for teachers and students in schools,” he said. “The National Day of Action on November 15 is our last opportunity before that funding review finishes to have our say.” World Teachers' Day is celebrated in more than 100 countries around the globe. Internationally the official day is October 5 but in Australia that usually clashes with school holidays.
