2007 Federal Women's Conference

    The Federal Women's Conference was held on Saturday/Sunday, 6/7 October, at the AEU Federal Office conference centre, Conferences on Clarendon, 120 Clarendon Street, Southbank.

    The Conference's major issue was discussion of the diversity of women's concerns and issues and how these may shape the outcome of the Federal Election.

    Themed, "Voting Voices", a number of women from a diverse range of women's/community groups, academia, industry groups, and unions were invited to participate in a series of panels to present their ideas and demands to advance women's and girls' opportunities and lives.

    Workshops and Papers

    The workshops looked at how political parties are responding to the concerns of women and where the AEU is placed both within broader election debates and how we can advance the key issues for our members. Details of the workshop synopses and background papers can be found below.

    1. Compare and Contrast (political parties' policies for women)
    2. AEU Women's Voices ('what women want')

    The papers give some background to debates or contemporary developments in workshop areas to help participants come to the workshops fully informed.

    "Golden Women has a Golden Prize in 2007"
    Delegates to previous Federal Women's Conferences would be familiar with the Golden Woman, awarded each year.
