Building the foundations of our future

Building the foundations of our futureis the report of a national research project exploring the context of women teachers' work in the late 1990s. It aimed to identify the pressures facing women teachers, the changes in their work, the impact on their family lives, and what they saw as priorities for the union. It was commissioned by the AEU as part of the 1999 Federal Women's Program, and involved a large scale survey as well as focus groups around Australia. Although the main focus of the research was on the experience of women teachers in schools, a smaller sample of male teachers was also included.
