TAFE Women's Committee

The National TAFE Women's Committee is made up from a TAFE Woman representative from each Branch and Associated Body, the Federal Women's Officer and TAFE Research Officer.

The Committee coordinates women's activities in the TAFE Division and provides advice to the National TAFE Council Executive in relation to matters of specific interest to women in TAFE.

The AEU TAFE Women's Committee met, Thursday 30th Sept and Friday 1st October, prior to the Federal Women's Conference. Its discussions focused on formulating input into the TAFE Casualisation campaign for 2005, progressing the union's response the issue Bullying and Harassment has become in TAFE, the goals of the AEU TAFE Women's Committee and building on the Organising and Recruiting material for women in TAFE.

The discussions highlighting a range of issues being reported to AEU branches and associated bodies reaffirmed the TWC's commitment to gender equality within our sector and exposed longer term priorities as well as those immediate, such as casualisation of the TAFE workforce. The summary here, gives an overview of the directions the TWC wishes to take in response to the many issues canvassed during the meeting.
