Some facts - Pay Equity

 

  • Women earn on average ($155 per week) 18.4% less than men;
  • Women have $3 to the $10 men have in their superannuation accounts;
  • Women are almost twice as likely to be under-employed than men;
  • Women are under-represented in senior positions in organisations;
  • Women are over-represented in industries characterised by casual, part-time and low paid employment;
  • Work carried out predominantly by women is often undervalued; and
  • Lack of family friendly work arrangements is a key barrier to full labour force participation for women with caring responsibilities.

    The Office for Women (NATSEM) has produced a report that shows how acting to remove the gender wage group could see an improvement to Australia's GDP of around $56 billion per year.
