Education union kicks off TV advertising campaign against Turnbull's Gonski cuts

17 May 2017

South Australian parents will be reminded of cuts to their local schools by the Turnbull Government’s agenda of education cuts as the Australian Education Union launches an advertising campaign across South Australia tonight.

Correna Haythorpe, Australian Education Union President said the union is committed to giving parents the full picture when it came to their children’s future.

“Our TV ad campaign will remind parents that there is still time to get active and fight for their child’s education.

“The current Gonski needs-based funding arrangement is making a real difference to South Australian schools, delivering individual programs, support and teachers where it is needed most.

“With Turnbull’s agenda of education cuts, students from across the state will fall through the cracks – it’s not good enough,” said Ms Haythorpe.

AEU launched individual schools’ data that reflects what each school stands to lose under the Turnbull Government’s plan for education funding in comparison to current needs-based funding arrangement.
