Global campaign to end violence against women and girls

‘Hear me too’ is the theme of the 2018 International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, on Sunday 25 November.

The date marks the beginning of a 16-day campaign that culminates on 10 December – International Human Rights Day- and uses the colour orange to unify activities that raise awareness of the need to eliminate violence against women.

In Australia family violence is now a national emergency with one woman killed every week. In October this year the figure was even more alarming: nine women were killed at the hands of a current or former partner.

The 16 Days of activism are all about calling on our community to commit to actions that change the culture that drives family violence. This year the UN is encouraging people to create opportunities for community conversations. Some ideas include:
