A national TAFE conference in Sydney today will see the Australian launch of research into global trends in vocational education. The research, Global trends in TVET: A framework for social justice was conducted by Associate Professor Leesa Wheelahan and Adjunct Professor Gavin Moodie of the University of Toronto.

It examines how vocational education can support equitable and sustainable economic and social development, contribute to the realisation of human rights, and develop the productive capacity of people, their societies and their economies.

It finds that strong and responsive vocational education requires strong public institutions and well-resourced teachers who are partners in developing and offering vocational education.
