What has the school done with its Gonski funding?

Unfortunately, schools in Tasmania have not received their full Gonski funding due to a decision by the state government not to pass that funding directly on to schools, and to introduce its own cuts to schools budgets in 2015.

Despite this, the school has big plans for using their extra resources to benefit students.

What Ogilvie High School could do with Gonski funding in the future

  • An additional two teachers to provide a better student/teacher ratio in classes.
  • A more diverse learning program – where a broader range of options can be undertaken to challenge and engage all of our students.
  • Additional professional support staff, such as psychologists, for targeted intervention and support to support students in need.
  • Alternative programs and opportunities for students at risk of disengaging with school, to improve attendance and retention.
