  • Action Needed to Stop All League Tables Media Release - 23 February 2010
    The Australian Education Union today welcomed the move by ACARA to shut down the Australia School Ranking website which named and shamed schools in league tables.

  • Damaging League Tables Must Be Stopped Media Release - 16 February 2010
    The Australian Education Union today called for action from the Federal Government after revelations online profiteers were naming and shaming schools in league tables.

  • 2010 Rosemary Richards Award
    All women members of the AEU and its Branches and Associated Bodies are encouraged to apply for this year's Rosemary Richards Scholarship. Applications close Friday 7th May 2010.

  • Help Stop League Tables
    The AEU has urged members to get involved in the campaign to stop league tables after newspapers used information from the My School website to name and shame schools. Within 24 hours of the site going live, newspapers in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and the Northern Territory printed league tables ranking schools based on their scores in the point in time, snapshot national literacy and numeracy test NAPLAN.   • Federal Government Misleading on Funding Media Release - 8 February 2010
    The Education Minister Julia Gillard is trying to cover the flaws in the My School website by misrepresenting the union’s position on school funding, the Australian Education Union said today.

  • The AEU's first national State of our TAFEs survey will run for the next three weeks, closing on Monday 1 March. This is your opportunity as a TAFE teacher to have a say about resourcing and other issues in your TAFE institute.     The AEC recently completed elections: E2009/10014 and 10081 for Federal Conference Delegates, National TAFE Council Delegates and Delegates on National Committees (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Committee - both General and TAFE; National Principals Committee and National Early Childhood Committee).
