Location: Gilgandra

Gilgandra High School is located approximately 65kms north of Dubbo and services the local Gilgandra community and surrounding villages. How has your school used its Gonski funding?

Gilgandra High School has invested its Gonski funding by developing collaborative learning spaces for students. We have invested the funding through targeted student support in classrooms and we have invested the funding to improve access to learning opportunities beyond Gilgandra.

How has Gonski made a positive difference for students?

Students have responded positively to the increased investment - the school has been able to demonstrate stronger community partnerships and improved pathways for students; our students have developed their leadership capacity as a result of investing funds in their development, and our staff and parent community have been able to see tangible differences in the learning environment and learning tools available to students.

What could your school do with Gonski funding in the future?

Our school would benefit from funding to support targeted student intervention. We would be able to support more fully those students who don't currently meet the threshold of need for additional funding, and in this way, support their learning as well as the smooth running of the school for all students and staff. Additionally, staff would benefit from increased access to professional learning to ensure that our community is confident that the teaching and learning practices are the best they can possibly be.
