About

The Australian Education Union has a membership of over 189,000 educators working in public schools, colleges, early childhood and vocational educations in all states and territories of Australia. Members include teachers and allied educational staff, principals and administrators in the public school and TAFE systems.

The AEU’s branches and associated bodies represent educators and can provide information on issues that are specific to their States and Territories. Associated bodies are the NSW Teachers Federation, Queensland Teachers Union, and the State School Teachers Union of WA.

AEU membership gives you a voice and provides you with support at work. To join the AEU go to the branch in your state or territory.

The AEU participates in and contributes to debates on education in Australia in a range of ways including submissions to inquiries. We develop our own, and commission independent research. We keep our members informed through our publications, the “Australian Educator” and “The Australian TAFE Teacher” magazines.
